Owo Church Attack: Former Presidential Aspirant, Aderibigbe Condemns Barbaric Attack, Urges FG, Security Agencies To Bring Perpetrators To Book

Former Presidential Aspirant, Amb.John Akorede Aderibigbe, has condemned in its entirety, the barbaric attack and killings of Parishioners of St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State on Sunday morning.

In what could be described as a terrorist attack, the unknown gunmen alleged to be Herdsmen shot sporadically, killing over 50 person in the Church and abducting the Parish Priest.

Aderibigbe In a Statement by his Media Aide, Akinwale Kasali, described the attack as vile, barbaric and callous, adding that there can never be any justification for the heinous behaviour of the assailants.

The statement stressed that the pathetic state and porous nature of the country’s security architecture needs to be restructured in tackling the insecurity impasse bedeviling the nation, stressing that the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government, Governor Olarotimi Akeredolu led Ondo State government and Security Agencies need to synergize In bringing the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.

“It is with sorrow in my heart I condole with the people of Ondo State over the news of the gruesome attack on St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, which led to the death of many worshippers. It is so pathetic that man inhumanity to man has been allow to continue without remorse and conscience.

“I join all well-meaning Nigerians to condemn this unprovoked attack at a worship centre and call on security agencies to intensify efforts towards arresting the culprits and bringing them to book”.

Aderibigbe went down memory lane, saying that the attack on Parishioners in Ondo State was the same scenario that played out at St. Phillips Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Anambra State, where At least 11 people were killed in a gun attack on a church, with Over 18 worshippers were said to have been killed with several others wounded.

The Kwara State born Entrepreneur, Humanitarian and Technochrat added that the case shouldn’t be swept under the carpet, urging the FG and Security Agencies to upp the ante in bringing to book the perpetrators of this heinous act.

“The perpetrators of this dastardly act should not go unpunished. We call on relevant security agencies in the state to spring into action and ensure that they are brought to book.

“My condolences goes to the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and good people of Ondo State as well as families that lost their loved ones in the carnage.”
