Shettima Pays Last Respect To Akeredolu

Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Friday, attended the funeral ceremony of former Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, in Owo, Ondo State.

The funeral ceremony for the late Akeredolu was continued with a church service holding at St Andrews Church, Imola Street, in his hometown Owo.

Shettima made this known in a statement he shared on his Facebook page on Friday, describing Akeredolu as a fearless soldier and unwavering advocate for his people.

Shettima also lauded Akeredolu’s indomitable legacy of national service, courage, dedication, and his unwavering stance.

Akeredolu, aged 67, died of postrate cancer in a German hospital on 27 December 2023. His body was flown to Nigeria and subsequently deposited in a morgue on 5 January.

The statement read, “Earlier today, I represented my boss, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the funeral of former Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, in his hometown, Owo, Ondo State.

“Indeed his passing away reminds us that in this transient journey through life, we are but whispers in the wind. The parts of us that endure after we get to the end of our journey are the choices we make, and this moment is the ultimate confirmation of the noble paths trodden by our dear brother.

“I traced Akeredolu’s journey, from his distinguished legal career to his pivotal role as Governor of Ondo State ,and praised his vast intelligence and the profound impact of his leadership.”
