Nigerian Senators Clash Over Sitting Arrangement At Renovated Chamber
Some high-ranking senators on Tuesday, engaged in a dramatic argument over sitting arrangements during the inaugural plenary session in the newly renovated hallowed chamber.
The Senate on Tuesday resumed plenary after six weeks of recess in the newly renovated hallowed chamber opened over two years after the reconstruction began.
Imran Muhammad, who posted the video as #Imranmuhdz on his X.com handle on Tuesday, shows the moment Senator Danjuma Goje, who is representing Gombe Central, and Sahabi Yau, Senator representing Zamfara North, expressing displeasure over the back seats assigned to them.
Both senators complained to the Majority Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele but the arguments became so heated that a voice in the background had to call for a “point of order” but was ignored.
In September 2022, the Senate and House moved to temporary chambers after the commencement of renovation work on their Hallowed Chambers by Visible Construction Company Nigeria Limited in July 2022.
