Ogunyemi ‘Champion’ Clears Air On Cultism, Threats Against Ayorinde

ABEOKUTA – A grassroots politician and community leader in Ogun State, Dipo Ogunyemi popularly known as Champion, has denied allegations of cult involvement and threats against the outgoing chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Mr. Abdusalam Ayorinde.

Ogunyemi described the accusations as “baseless and politically motivated,” aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

Recalled that Hon. Ayorinde had recently accused Ogunyemi of threatening his life and also allegedly involved in many of the cult clashes recorded within the council area.

Reacting in a statement released to newsmen on Thursday, Ogunyemi dismissed the allegations as a desperate attempt by the chairman to divert attention away from his own shortcomings and failures in office.

He affirmed his commitment to the community and his innocence, expressing faith in the security agencies to uncover the truth and uphold justice.

The community leader appealed to the people of Abeokuta North to remain steadfast in their support, assuring them that he will not be swayed by “malicious tactics.”

He emphasized his dedication to responsible leadership and accountability, vowing to continue working towards positive change in the community.

The statement read partly, “I write to address the baseless and politically motivated allegations made against me by the outgoing chairman of Abk North LG, Mr. Abdusalam Adebayo Ayorinde. These claims are nothing but a desperate attempt to tarnish my reputation and distract from his own failures.

“To set the record straight, Let me be clear: I have always been a law-abiding citizen, dedicated to our community. I categorically deny any involvement in cult activities or threats against the chairman. These accusations lack any real evidence and are merely a smoke screen.

“I have full faith in our security agencies to reveal the truth and uphold justice. As a private citizen without special protection or immunity, I stand firm in my innocence. My contributions to Abeokuta North speak for themselves, and I will not be swayed by such malicious tactics.

“To the wonderful people of Abeokuta North, I thank you for your unwavering support. We will continue to speak truth to power without intimidation. Responsible leadership is about accountability. Together, we will continue to bring positive change to our community. Trust in the process, and know that justice will prevail.
