2027 in Focus: 10,000-Member CCM Endorses Tinubu, Throws Weight Behind Yayi in Ogun

A major political signal ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections emerged as the Central Coordinate Movement (CCM), a youth-driven group with a claimed membership of over 10,000, formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term and Senator Adeola Olamilekan Solomon Adeola (popularly known as Yayi) for Governor of Ogun State.


At a well-attended event in Ogun Central, the group’s chairman, Alhaji Taiwo Elewide—widely known as Big Champion Akile Egbaland—described the endorsement as a strategic move rooted in confidence in the leadership of both figures and a commitment to continuity in governance under the All Progressives Congress (APC).


According to Elewide, the CCM’s membership strength represents a significant voting bloc, with all members reportedly in possession of valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). He emphasized that the group is mobilizing early to ensure maximum participation in the 2027 elections.


“Our group, with over 10,000 members, is fully committed to supporting Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term and Senator Adeola Olamilekan Solomon Yayi for Governor of Ogun State. Every one of our members is an eligible voter, and we are determined to deliver votes for the APC at both the presidential and state levels,” Elewide declared.


The endorsement event attracted a mix of political stakeholders, community leaders, and notable personalities, underscoring the growing momentum within Ogun State’s political landscape. Among those in attendance were activist Sunday Igboho, Hon. Bukola Olopade, Senator Shuaibu Salisu, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, Chief Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, Hon. Balogun Afeez Olaniyi, and Chief Bode Mustapha, among others.


Observers noted that the gathering served not only as an endorsement platform but also as a show of grassroots mobilization strength within Ogun Central, a key senatorial district in the state. The presence of influential figures from political, cultural, and community spheres added weight to the event’s significance.


Adding a cultural dimension to the political gathering, popular Fuji and indigenous musicians entertained attendees, turning the event into a blend of political engagement and social celebration. Performances by artists such as Sulaimon Atawewe, Alayo Singer, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, and Shefiu Alao energized the crowd and reinforced the grassroots appeal of the movement.
