Ojokoro LCDA Council Manager, Mojisola Akinola, Bows Out in Style, Celebrates 60th Birthday and Retirement

It was a moment of celebration, reflection, and admiration as Mrs. Mojisola Abeni Yusuff Akinola, a revered administrator and accomplished civil servant, bowed out of active service upon attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60, marking the end of a remarkable 32-year career in the Lagos State Civil Service.


Mojisola Widely described as an epitome of brilliance, humility, and excellence, Mrs. Akinola leaves behind a legacy defined by dedication, innovation, and impactful leadership across several Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State.



Born on May 6, 1966, into the respected family of Chief (Alhaji) Wahab Ishola Yusuf and Alhaja Simiat Adunni Yusuf in Olusosun, Ikeja, Mrs. Akinola’s journey has been one of consistent growth and outstanding achievement. From her early education at Ifako International School and Awori Comprehensive High School, where she excelled academically, she demonstrated a strong passion for knowledge and self-development.



Her academic pursuit saw her obtain a National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Food Technology before advancing her studies with multiple postgraduate and master’s degrees, including an MBA and a Master’s in Social Work, all from Lagos State University. Her thirst for knowledge remains evident as she continues to pursue a PhD in Early Childhood and Primary Education.



Mrs. Akinola began her civil service career in 1994 as a Community Development Inspector II in Mushin Local Government. Through hard work, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to service, she rose steadily through the ranks, serving in key capacities across Alimosho, Ayobo/Ipaja, Orile-Agege, Agbado/Oke-Odo, and Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDAs.



Her competence and leadership earned her promotion to the prestigious grade level 17, culminating in her appointment as Council Manager. She served meritoriously in Alimosho Local Government before her final posting to Ojokoro LCDA in 2025, where she made significant strides in improving administrative efficiency and workers’ welfare.



Colleagues and stakeholders describe her as a proactive, compassionate, and resourceful leader whose tenure brought meaningful reforms and lasting impact. Her ability to blend administrative excellence with human-centered leadership distinguished her as one of the finest officers in the system.



Beyond her professional achievements, Mrs. Akinola is a devoted family woman, happily married to Mr. Gbenga Oladepo Akinola, a retired civil servant and unionist. Their union is blessed with accomplished children, reflecting the same values of discipline and excellence she embodies.



As she retires, tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues, friends, and well-wishers who celebrate her as a role model and a beacon of inspiration. Her retirement and 60th birthday celebration, scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, 2026, is expected to attract dignitaries, including top government officials, council managers, and associates from across Lagos State.



Mrs. Mojisola Abeni Yusuf Akinola’s story is one of resilience, continuous learning, and exceptional service. As she gracefully exits public service, she does so with pride, leaving behind an enduring legacy and a standard of excellence for others to follow.
Indeed, her journey stands as a shining example of what dedication, integrity, and vision can achieve.
