BREAKING: Police Arrest Alleged Fake PFIPC Director-General Adeniyi Adeyemi After Court Issues Bench Warrant

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested Adeniyi Adeyemi, the man identified as the Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), following the issuance of a bench warrant by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Adeyemi was reportedly apprehended in Osun State on Tuesday, just hours after the court ordered his arrest over his failure to appear for arraignment on an eight-count charge bordering on alleged forgery, impersonation and fraud.

The bench warrant was issued after the defendant failed to honour the court’s summons to answer charges filed against him by the Federal Government. The prosecution subsequently applied for his arrest, a request granted by the court.

According to the charges, Adeyemi is accused of presenting himself as the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, an organisation authorities have described as having no legal backing as a government agency. The charges also include allegations of forging official documents and impersonating public officials.

Police sources confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody shortly after the court’s order and is expected to be produced before the court to take his plea on the charges against him.

The arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the activities of the alleged fake council, with security agencies expected to continue their probe into its operations and any individuals who may have been involved.

The case has been adjourned pending Adeyemi’s formal arraignment before the Federal High Court.
