Sanwo-Olu’s Chief of Staff Pays Condolence Visit to Ogogo’s Family
The Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Tayo Ayinde, has visited the family of late veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, in Ilaro, Ogun State.
Ayinde, who led a delegation of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Lagos State, to the family on Saturday, condoled with Ogogo’s widow, children and other relatives over the actor’s death.
Speaking during the visit, Ayinde described Ogogo as a cultural icon whose decades-long career contributed significantly to the promotion of Yoruba language, identity and values through film and theatre.
He said the late actor’s contribution to Nigeria’s entertainment industry extended beyond his performances, noting that his dedication helped shape the growth of indigenous-language cinema and preserve aspects of Yoruba cultural heritage.
Ayinde urged the family to take solace in Ogogo’s achievements and the lasting impact of his work, assuring them that his contributions to the entertainment and cultural sectors would remain part of Nigeria’s history.
He prayed for the repose of the actor’s soul and asked God to grant his widow, children and other members of the Hassan family the strength and comfort to bear the loss.
The delegation included the Chief of Staff of RHA Lagos, Dr Shopeyin; Director of Protocol, Hon. Jibike Babatunde; Director of Security, Hon. Olalekan Abubakar; Hon. Bayo Ajisebutu and other members of the organisation.
Ogogo, who died on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66 after battling stage-four cancer, was buried in his hometown, Ilaro, in accordance with Islamic rites. His death has continued to attract tributes from colleagues, fans and stakeholders across the Nigerian entertainment industry.
