APC Warns Saraki, PDP Against Intimidating Kwara Teachers, Civil Servants
▪︎ Says we’ll stand by teachers, civil servants
Kwara State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked former Senate President Bukola Saraki to stop threatening civil servants who speak up about their experiences during the Saraki-led PDP administration in the state.
“We are appalled by the antics of Saraki and his men who have resorted to intimidation instead of defending their abysmal record during their reign. It is evil for Saraki to want to use pseudo-legal means to silence civil servants who are telling their experience. We say to Saraki: you can’t erase a people’s memory with intimidation and neither can you silence them. People are entitled to tell their story. The onus is on Saraki and his goons to tell their own side and leave the public to judge,” APC said in a statement on Thursday.
The party also cautioned Saraki and PDP against issuing threats to poor civil servants, including teachers, saying Saraki’s legal notice against a female teacher, Mrs Olamide Ajia, who recently spoke on a radio station is an act of intimidation and psychological terrorism.
“Saraki and PDP must live with the reality that Kwarans are freeborns who cannot be intimidated or forced to forget the evil that their reign represented for Kwara. Indeed, the action of Saraki has vindicated those who equate his reign with serial intimidation of critics. We urge security forces to protect citizens against such intimidation. If PDP elements can lie shamelessly on radio without being intimidated, those who are refreshing people’s memory cannot be victims of any form of harassment by Saraki or his men. People of Kwara State will hold Saraki responsible if anything happens to the poor woman or anyone at all. Kwara of today does not allow for such reckless behaviour,” the party added.
The APC says it will do everything legitimate to protect civil servants, including teachers, from any form of intimidation or harassment by Saraki and his PDP followers.
