Family of Late Gospel Singer Toluwanisings Threatens Exhumation Over Burial Dispute
The family of the late Nigerian gospel artist, Toluwanisings, has made headlines by threatening to exhume his remains if he is buried in a cemetery instead of their ancestral home in Oyo State, where they wish to lay him to rest beside his late mother.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, a family representative expressed their firm stance, stating, “We have all decided that Toluwanisings must not be buried in the cemetery. He should be brought home.”

The singer, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonle Bolaji, died on October 14, 2026, at the age of 41.
The representative warned that the family would take matters into their own hands if their wishes were ignored.
If you decide to bury him in the cemetery, we will remove him from there,” he asserted, speaking on behalf of relatives who are united in their resolve.
The family insists that their preferred burial site is at their father’s compound in Oyo State, dismissing any concerns about the possibility of interring him at his own house.
If you say you can’t bury him in his house that he built, we don’t care to know your reasons,” he said, reiterating their demand to bring him home.
This disagreement over Toluwanisings’ final resting place has ignited discussions on social media, with some users supporting the family’s wishes while others call for a peaceful resolution that honors both the deceased and his relatives.
Family members, friends, and fans recently held a candlelight procession in his honor on October 20, followed by a tribute night.
The singer was well-loved in the gospel music community, and his untimely passing has left many mourning.
The ongoing dispute raises important questions about the cultural significance of burial practices and the rights of families to determine the final resting places of their loved ones.
As the situation unfolds, many are hoping for a resolution that respects both the family’s wishes and the legacy of Toluwanisings.
