2027: Sokoto rally shook APC, then court sacked Atiku – Kenneth Okonkwo

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Kenneth Okonkwo, has reacted to the Federal High Court judgment that nullified the candidacy of Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the party for the 2027 election.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘The Morning Brief’ on Friday, Okonkwo said the judgment came less than 24 hours after the ADC held a massive rally in Sokoto, claiming that the rally shook the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to the bone.

According to him, the Sokoto rally was not just a rally, describing it as a historic journey to rescue Nigerians from what he called the incompetence and corruption of the APC, hunger and unemployment.

“The ADC Sokoto rally shook the APC to the bone marrow. It was not just a rally but a historic journey to rescue our people from the incompetence and corruption of the APC, hunger, unemployment,” Okonkwo said.

His reaction stemmed from the judgment delivered on Thursday in Abuja by Justice Peter Lifu.

The court nullified the leadership of the ADC led by former Senate President David Mark. It also cancelled all the decisions taken by that leadership, including the primary that produced Atiku as the party’s presidential candidate.

The court also nullified the emergence of former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, as National Secretary, and the nominations of other candidates presented by the party for the 2027 elections.

Okonkwo insisted the Sokoto rally showed that Nigerians are ready for change, and that no court judgment can stop what he called the rescue mission.
