Alleged Lavish Spending by NDDC Managing Director Ogbuku on 50th Birthday Celebration

Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), is allegedly facing widespread criticism over claims of extravagant spending during his 50th birthday celebration. Sources say the commemoration, which included events in Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Bayelsa, was far more opulent than publicly acknowledged.
According to the allegations:
An extravagant after-party was reportedly held, featuring high-end caterers, premium décor, and luxury entertainment, sparking public outcry in light of socio-economic struggles in the Niger Delta.
Funds allegedly used for the celebration are claimed to have come from contracts or budget lines intended for developmental projects, raising questions among watchdog groups.
Several prominent individuals including government officials, contractors, and foreign guests are said to have been flown in at considerable expense.
However, in response to these claims, Dr. Ogbuku has issued a statement denying allegations of lavish spending. He insists that the events were modest, focused on intellectual contributions, spiritual thanksgiving, and community.
