APC Chairmanship Aspirants Rally Behind Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu And Party Leadership

The Lagos State Conference of 2025 All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship Aspirants held a parley on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the Lagos NUT Pavilion, NERDC Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja. The gathering brought together aspirants from across the state who pledged their continued loyalty to the APC and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election project.
Convener of the conference, Hon. Shola Opeyemi Taiwo, in his welcome address, commended the leadership of the APC at both the state and national levels. He praised fellow aspirants for their resilience and commitment despite the challenges faced during the last local government elections.
Taiwo stressed that the essence of the meeting went beyond the issue of nomination form refunds. He clarified that the refund process was initiated by the party itself and not by aspirants, noting that while transparency in handling refunds is important, the priority must remain unity, loyalty, and inclusion in ongoing appointments.
He further emphasized that the aspirants were not rebels but grassroots commanders committed to working with the party’s leadership. According to him, their collective strength would be channelled towards ensuring President Tinubu’s second-term victory in 2027 and supporting whoever emerges as the APC governorship candidate in Lagos.
Other aspirants reinforced Taiwo’s message of unity and loyalty. Hon. Wale Oluwa underscored the importance of mobilizing support for Tinubu’s 2027 agenda, describing the aspirants as critical to strengthening the party at the grassroots.
Hon. (Dr.) Princess Folashade Olabanjioba called for inclusiveness, stressing that the party leadership must not sideline the aspirants in the scheme of things. She urged that they be carried along in recognition of their sacrifices, loyalty, and grassroots reach, noting that the aspirants’ efforts and sacrifices would be better rewarded if the party ensures equitable participation in appointments and decision-making. According to her, inclusiveness is key to sustaining unity and building a stronger APC that can deliver victory at all levels in the 2027 elections.
Similarly, Hon. (Dr.) Tola Adebiyi revisited the issue of payment drafts submitted by aspirants. He stressed that fairness and transparency in the refund process would strengthen trust and deepen commitment to the party. Adebiyi noted that, in line with the party’s instruction, the drafts are currently being collated and assured that as soon as the party requests them, the necessary steps would be taken without delay.
At the parley, the aspirants unanimously passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the leadership of the APC. They reaffirmed their unalloyed loyalty to the party hierarchy and emphasized that unity, discipline, and collective support remain the pathway to consolidating the APC’s strength in Lagos and across Nigeria.
The conference therefore resolved to continue projecting loyalty, modesty, and visibility in service to the party, while remaining united under the supremacy of the APC as Lagos moves towards the 2027 elections.
