APC Will Collapse Before 2027, Prof. Udenta Warns

Founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy, Prof. Udenta Udenta, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is too fragile to survive Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.

Speaking in an interview with ARISE News on Tuesday, Udenta described the ruling party as “a structure of darkness” that has allegedly weaponised state institutions to sustain its dominance.

“This is a structure that will collapse on its own,” he said, accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of operating as an extension of the APC. According to him, the electoral body has been reduced to “a weapon used to legitimise electoral robbery and violence,” while the judiciary has also been compromised.

Udenta further warned that the 2027 general election would serve as a critical turning point for Nigeria, especially if former President Goodluck Jonathan decides to contest.

“That panic is that 2027 will be a day of reckoning. That becomes more acute if Jonathan contests,” he stated.

He urged opposition parties, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party, to unite in order to stop what he described as the APC’s destructive grip on the nation.

“What APC has done is to collapse the economy, collapse security, collapse cohesion and collapse legitimacy,” Udenta noted, stressing that Nigerians are increasingly disillusioned and would decisively reject the APC if credible alternatives emerge.

“2027 is not just another election. It is the soul of the country that will be contested,” he added.

Udenta, a vocal critic of President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition, had earlier in July condemned early speculations about Tinubu’s 2027 running mate, describing it as a humiliation of Vice President Kashim Shettima.
