Digital Skills Empowerment: Beneficiaries Extol Gov. Abiodun’s Initiative


Beneficiaries of the ongoing free training on repair and marketing of digital tools have extolled Governor Abiodun’s Youth Empowerment Initiatives, saying it is timely, helpful and fulfilling.

The commendation was made in a  media chat at Ogun TechHub, Kobape road, Abeokuta, during one of their hands -on training sessions.


One of the beneficiaries, Uduakobong Akpan expressed satisfaction on the quality of the sessions, tutors and the environment which, according to him was conducive for learning, adding that the quality of  facilities provided was  responsible for the knowledge on phone and laptops he  acquired seamlessly.

He said”,This training is so unique and expensive due to the sophistication of the training gadgets, which I have never seen before. As a matter of fact, there is no way I could have gotten the money to pay for such classes if it was not made free by Ogun State government, because am a fresh graduate looking for a white collar job, but now that I have benefited from one of the Youth Empowerment Initiatives of Prince Dapo Abiodun; assuredly I can establish my own business.”

   Another Beneficiary, Ibukunoluwa Ayodeji, stated that the free training was an eye opener for him as he had imagined repair of laptops and ICT gadgets were cumbersome, but with the quality training sessions at Ogun TechHub ,his dream of becoming a Tech Engineer was actualized as he could now work in any tech company as well as setting up his own tech outfit.

Recall that Ogun State government have collaborated with several ICT organisations for the purpose of  empowering  youths and technology enthusiasts with necessary skills towards actualising a digital future and its potentials for self-reliance.

The State  recently unveiled partnership with Cybervilla; a tech company saddled with free training and providing support, management and repair services for phones, laptops and other ICT gadgets, involving  about 10,000 youths in the State.

  Appreciating Ogun State government on behalf of other beneficiaries, Timilehin Ajisebutu said, “Youth Empowerment Initiatives of Prince Dapo Abiodun is so intentional, making it a top notch in Nigeria as it will cut off certain percentage of unemployment. I am confidently saying that, with all we have learnt so far as well as start-up tools promised to be given to us, we will be self-reliant and employers of labour.”
