FG Announces April 3 And 6 As Public Holidays For Easter Celebration


The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays in observance of this year’s Easter celebration.


The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who extended warm congratulations to Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora on the occasion.


April 3 marks Good Friday, while April 6 will be observed as Easter Monday.
In his message, the minister encouraged Nigerians to reflect on the virtues symbolised by the season, including selflessness, forgiveness, patience, and love, as demonstrated in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

He also called for unity and peaceful coexistence among citizens, stressing that Easter serves as a reminder of the shared values that bind the nation together.


Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to implementing policies aimed at driving national development, economic growth, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.


He concluded by wishing Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
