Hon. Abdulkareem Shittu Foundation Brings Joy To Ikorodu With Second Edition Empowerment Scheme

By Gbenga Agunbiade, Lagos

The ancient town of Ikorodu was thrown into celebration on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, as the Abdulkareem Shittu Foundation, under the leadership of Honourable Abdulkareem Olugbenga Shittu, hosted the second edition of its much-anticipated Empowerment Scheme Program. The event, which attracted a massive crowd from every ward within the constituency, was nothing short of a festival of hope, relief, and gratitude.

From the moment the program began, the atmosphere was charged with excitement as residents spoke about the track record of Hon. Shittu, recalling how he had previously supported the people with financial aid, Sallah rice during festive seasons, and working tools such as tailoring machines, grinding machines, clippers, and other vital items that had made life easier for artisans and entrepreneurs. This year’s edition, however, left an even bigger mark in the hearts of the people as it went far beyond expectations.

In what many described as a life-changing gesture, thirty small business owners were each empowered with the sum of ₦250,000 to expand their trades. Beneficiaries such as Mrs. Abidemi Ajumobi, Mrs. Afusat Adelasi, Mrs. Ogunjimi Mary, Mrs. Olabode Bankola, Mrs. Toyin Aina, and Mrs. Adebeshin Fatimoh could not hold back their joy as they shared moving testimonies of how Hon. Shittu’s kindness had come at the right time to rescue their businesses from collapse. With tears of joy, one of the women described the empowerment as the turning point her family had been praying for, while another hailed the honorable as a rare leader who does not only talk about empowerment but lives it.

The generosity did not end there, as every one of the one thousand participants at the program received both cash gifts of ₦5,000 and foodstuffs to take home. Families, young and old, went away with smiles on their faces, thankful that in a time of economic hardship, their representative had thought of them and provided relief from his personal resources rather than waiting on government funds. To further strengthen the political family, Hon. Shittu also presented thirty chairs to the APC wards within the constituency, a move that party members welcomed as thoughtful and timely.

Speaking on behalf of the foundation, Mr. Muhammed Hassan, the Director General, addressed the cheering crowd and emphasized that what the people had witnessed was only the beginning of greater things to come. He explained that Hon. Shittu had always been passionate about lifting people out of poverty and creating opportunities for growth, and he assured the audience that the foundation was determined to touch even more lives in the months and years ahead.

All through the event, the testimonies kept flowing from the lips of grateful beneficiaries and participants. Many recalled how the honorable had previously given out as much as ₦500,000 to individuals in need, while others praised his consistency in distributing food items during festive seasons and his regular empowerment of artisans with essential tools of trade. For them, the second edition of the Empowerment Scheme was not just another program; it was proof that Hon. Abdulkareem Shittu is a leader who understands the struggles of his people and uses his personal blessings to uplift the community.

By the time the event drew to a close, Ikorodu was already buzzing with renewed energy and hope. The smiles on the faces of widows, youths, traders, and artisans told the story of a constituency that has found in Hon. Abdulkareem Olugbenga Shittu not just a politician, but a benefactor, a leader with compassion, and a man determined to leave lasting legacies of empowerment. The second edition of the Abdulkareem Shittu Foundation Empowerment Scheme will be remembered for years to come as a day when over a thousand residents of Ikorodu went home with testimonies of transformation.
