Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai has arrived at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja for questioning over alleged corruption. Supporters and critics have gathered outside the EFCC office, with some protesting in his support and others demanding a thorough investigation .

El-Rufai’s visit comes after his legal team confirmed he would present himself to investigators following a failed attempt to arrest him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The EFCC has been investigating El-Rufai over allegations of corruption, including a reported N423 billion fraud during his tenure as governor .

The investigation is focused on alleged mismanagement of funds, loan agreements, and large-scale infrastructure projects during El-Rufai’s administration. The Kaduna State House of Assembly has also set up a panel to probe his eight-year tenure, citing reckless awards of contracts and unauthorized withdrawals of cash .
