Police Arrest Suspected Transformer Vandal In Enugu, Recover Cable
The Enugu State Police Command has arrested 23-year-old Obieze Chigozie for vandalising an electric power transformer in an estate at Damijah Flyover, Trans-Ekulu area of the state.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this in a statement shared on the command’s X handle on Thursday.
The command assured all that efforts are being made to end vandalism in the state.
The statement read, “Enugu State Police Command’s operatives serving in Trans-Ekulu Division, on April 12, 2024, around 5:30 a.m., swiftly responded to credible information and arrested Obieze Chigozie “m” aged 23, at Damijah Flyover while his cohorts escaped.
“The suspect and his accomplices were alleged to have vandalised an electric power transformer in an estate at Damijah Flyover, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu. Yet-to-be-ascertained lengths and sizes of armored cables and a big cutting tool the suspect and others at large used in vandalising the transformer were recovered.
“A preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect confessed to having been previously involved in the act of vandalism with others at large.”
The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
