2027: Ogun Former Legislators Endorse Tinubu For Re-election, Back Senator Yayi For Governor
The Ogun State caucus of the National Forum of Former Legislators (NFFL) has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office and declared support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship race.
The resolutions were reached at a National Summit of the Forum held on Friday, January 24, 2026, at the NAF Conference Centre, Kado, Abuja.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the Forum said it had closely monitored the leadership style and policy direction of President Tinubu and expressed confidence in his capacity to continue steering the nation through its current socio-economic and security challenges.
According to the Forum, the Tinubu administration has recorded notable economic progress and adopted result-oriented strategies in addressing insecurity across the country, which, it said, warrant commendation and renewed confidence.
“Consequently, the Ogun State caucus of the National Forum of Former Legislators hereby declares its unalloyed support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” the communiqué stated.
The Forum also passed a vote of confidence in the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, citing what it described as his impactful representation, extensive legislative experience, strong political antecedents, and commitment to welfare-driven governance.
It noted that Senator Adeola’s contributions have translated into tangible socio-political benefits across various parts of Ogun State, particularly Ogun West.
Based on this, the Forum declared its full support for Adeola’s governorship aspiration and urged him to formally declare his intention to contest the 2027 gubernatorial election to enable members and other stakeholders commence widespread mobilisation on his behalf.
The Forum further commended Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, and former Governor and elder statesman, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, CON, for what it described as their consistent leadership and dedication to the progressive political ideals and development of Ogun State.
