Oloworo of Oworonshoki Marks 5th Anniversary of Late Father, Oba Oloruntoyin Saliu

The Oloworo of Oworonshoki, Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Saliu Elebo II, has commemorated the fifth-year anniversary of the passing of his father and predecessor, the late HRM Oba Oloruntoyin Saliu, Elebo I, with a special remembrance ceremony at the Oloworo Palace.
The anniversary remembrance, held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, brought together traditional rulers, dignitaries, family members, community leaders, friends and well-wishers who gathered at the palace to honour the memory and celebrate the enduring legacy of the late monarch.
The gathering provided an opportunity for members of the royal family and the Oworonshoki community to reflect on the life, leadership and contributions of Oba Oloruntoyin Saliu, who was remembered for his commitment to the development, peace and unity of his people.
Speaking during the remembrance, Oba Babatunde Saliu Elebo II described the fifth anniversary as a significant moment for the royal family and the entire Oworonshoki community, noting that the legacy of his late father remains a source of inspiration to the present generation.
He said the values of peace, unity, service, respect for tradition and dedication to community development which characterised the reign of Elebo I would continue to guide the royal institution and inspire efforts towards the progress of Oworonshoki.
The monarch also expressed appreciation to traditional rulers, government representatives, community leaders, friends of the palace and other dignitaries for honouring the occasion and standing with the royal family in remembering the late monarch.
The event also featured tributes and moments of reflection as attendees paid homage to the late Oba and acknowledged his contributions to the growth and stability of Oworonshoki.
Five years after his passing, the memory of Oba Oloruntoyin Saliu, Elebo I, continues to live on through his family, the traditional institution and the people whose lives he touched during his lifetime.
The Oloworo Palace reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the values and legacy of the late monarch while continuing to promote peace, cultural heritage, unity and sustainable development in Oworonshoki.
