“Egbon Gives Me The Care I Need After My Uncle’s Death” — Egungbohun Mourns Ogogo

The death of veteran actor and talented artist, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has left his younger brother, Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun, deeply heartbroken, with the community leader and philanthropist describing the late actor as the care and affection he needed after the death of his beloved uncle, Otunba Wahab Ayinla Egungbohun (Baba Ode).
Ogogo, who was 66, died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, after battling Stage 4 cancer.
For Chief Egungbohun, the death represents the painful loss of not only an elder brother but also a deeply trusted and cherished figure whose extraordinary care and kindness had become woven into his daily life.
“Egbon would call me in the morning, afternoon, evening and night, looking after me as himself following the demise of my uncle, Bàbá Ọdẹ”.
According to him, Ogogo gradually assumed the role of the caring elder who gave him the affection, attention and reassurance he had lost.
“Egbon fittingly positioned himself as my dear uncle. He was just the exact care I needed”.
It was this extraordinary bond that made the news of Ogogo’s death particularly painful for Chief Egungbohun.
“I am going to miss his extraordinary, heartfelt care and kindness”.
Praying for the repose of Ogogo’s soul, Chief Egungbohun said, “May his precious soul rest in perfect peace. May Allah kindly accept his return and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus”.
Ogogo’s death brings to an end the life of a veteran entertainer and talented artist who calved his niche through his work in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The remains of Alhaji Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ will be committed to the earth on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
