Ambode Backs Hamzat As Lagos APC Consensus Candidate, Drums Support For Tinubu
Former Lagos State Governor, His Excellency Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has congratulated Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat on his emergence as the Consensus Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, 30th April 2026, Ambode described Hamzat as a “true Party man” whose adoption reflects over two decades of loyalty, hard work, and dedication to the APC.
“I join my fellow members of the All Progressives Congress to congratulate my brother and friend, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, on his emergence as the Consensus Governorship Candidate of our great party, the APC,” Ambode stated.
He commended Hamzat’s “deliberate and purposeful consultations” with the Party hierarchy and members, noting that Lagos State would “benefit immensely from your wealth of experience and skills in governance.”
The former governor also used the opportunity to restate his “unshakeable commitment” to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. Ambode said he strongly believes that “the greater prosperity of Lagos and indeed Nigeria is firmly tied to the continued governance of Mr. President.”
Calling for mobilization ahead of the polls, Ambode urged Lagos APC to “roll up our sleeves and work to deliver landslide victories” at both state and federal levels. He set a target for the state chapter: “Our mission should be to deliver at least 3 million votes for Mr. President and support other States in Southwest to deliver great results.”
He further charged party members to ensure the return of all APC-nominated Senators and Representatives to the National Assembly.
Ambode concluded the statement on an optimistic note: “By the grace of Almighty God, the best days of Lagos and Nigeria are still ahead of us.”
