British Nationals, Oyedipe Andrew and Mhizha Jordan, Jailed 8 Years For Importing 51.10kg Of Cannabis Into Nigeria
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has sentenced two British nationals — Nigerian-born Oyedipe Andrew Adejuwon and his accomplice Mhizha Jordan Alexander Tatendra — to eight years imprisonment for the unlawful importation of 51.10 kilogrammes of Cannabis Sativa into Nigeria.
The duo were arraigned before the court on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, procurement, and unlawful importation of the banned narcotic substance. The charges were filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and prosecuted by counsel Abu Ibrahim.
According to the amended charge sheet, Mhizha Jordan Alexander Tatendra was charged with conspiring with other unknown individuals to import the cannabis into Nigeria. Oyedipe Andrew Adejuwon was specifically charged for procuring Mhizha to import the drugs from the United Arab Emirates into Lagos.
Upon the reading of the amended charges, both defendants pleaded guilty before the presiding judge, Justice Musa Kakaki. Following their guilty plea, the NDLEA prosecutor reviewed the facts of the case before the court.
Subsequently, Justice Kakaki convicted the two men and sentenced them to two years imprisonment on each of the three counts, to run concurrently. This means they will each serve a total of two years in prison, with the term starting from the date of their arrest — 14th May 2025.

Count 1:
That you Mhizha Jordan Alexander Tatendra and Oyedipe Andrew Adejuwon, both male, adults, British citizens, on or about the 14th of May 2025, conspired with some other persons unknown to import 51.10 kilogrammes of Cannabis Sativa, a narcotic drug similar to Cocaine, LSD, and Heroin, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 14 (b) of the NDLEA Act Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
Count 2:
That you Oyedipe Andrew Adejuwon, male, adult, British citizen, on or about the 14th of May 2025, procured one Mhizha Jordan Alexander Tatendra, male, adult, British citizen, to import 51.10 kilogrammes of Cannabis Sativa, a narcotic drug similar to Cocaine, LSD, and Heroin, thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 21(2)(d) of the NDLEA Act Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and punishable under Section 11(a) of the same Act.
Count 3:
That you Mhizha Jordan Alexander Tatendra, male, adult, British citizen, on or about the 14th of May 2025, during the inward clearance of passengers aboard Emirates Airlines flight from the United Arab Emirates to Lagos at the E-Arrival Hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja-Lagos, without lawful authority, imported 51.10 kilogrammes of Cannabis Sativa, a narcotic drug similar to Cocaine, LSD, and Heroin, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 11(a) of the NDLEA Act Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The NDLEA has since taken custody of the convicts to commence the execution of the court’s judgment.
