Chelsea Face Luton, Tottenham Draw Charlton in EFL Cup Second Round
Chelsea will face Luton Town in the second round of the 2026/27 EFL Cup, while Tottenham Hotspur have been drawn against Charlton Athletic.
The draw, conducted on Tuesday, also produced several other intriguing ties involving Premier League clubs not participating in European competitions this season.
Southampton will host West Ham United, Newcastle United will welcome West Bromwich Albion, while Nottingham Forest will take on Leeds United.
Other fixtures include Sheffield Wednesday against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Everton’s trip to Preston North End, Brentford’s visit to Birmingham City and Fulham’s home clash with AFC Wimbledon.
The second-round fixtures are scheduled to be played in the week commencing August 24, between Premier League Matchweeks 1 and 2.
The draw was regionalised into northern and southern sections.
Nine Premier League clubs competing in UEFA competitions this season will enter the EFL Cup at the third-round stage.
The EFL Cup features all 92 clubs from England’s top four divisions the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two.
All second-round ties will be played over one leg, with penalty shootouts used to determine the winner if a match is level after 90 minutes.
