Christian Youth In Politics Rally For Peace, Unity, And Participation Ahead Of 5th International Conference
The Christian Youth in Politics (CYP), led nationally by Princess Oluwafolake Kolawole, has launched its 5th Peace International Conference in Lagos, a three-day program dedicated to promoting peace, unity, and active political participation among Christian youth.
The event, which began with a rally, will culminate tomorrow, November 28th, with the main peace conference featuring senior politicians, traditional chiefs, and government officials. The rally was marked by vibrant slogans displayed on placards: “No to drugs, peace not violence, unity, peaceful coexistence.” These messages emphasized the group’s commitment to fostering harmony across religious, political, and ethnic divides.
Plateau State Coordinator, Mr. Danath, highlighted his journey from Plateau to Lagos as a testament to his passion for politics and belief in CYP’s mission. He stressed that Nigeria, as Africa’s giant, needs Christian youth to step forward and help reshape the political system.
Assistant Coordinator of the Lagos State chapter, Oluwakemi Raple, echoed this sentiment, noting that many Christians shy away from politics, viewing it as a “dirty game.” She insisted that CYP’s mission is to “make politics clean” and encouraged youth to join in order to transform the system. Raple also shared her personal aspiration of one day becoming the Deputy Governor of Lagos State.
From Ekiti State, Coordinator Adeloju Alaba Olaoluwa expressed joy at participating in the rally, describing it as “fantastic.” He emphasized that Christians must be present in politics to make meaningful impact, revealing that Ekiti State CYP already has 136 members, some of whom are preparing to contest in upcoming elections.
Lagos State Coordinator, Olatunbosun Oluwaseyi, reinforced CYP’s vision of correcting societal wrongs through Christian participation in governance. He noted that Lagos State alone has over 1,000 members, with the ambitious goal of reaching every church across denominations.
At its core, CYP’s mission is clear: to inspire Christian youth to step out of the shadows, join political parties of their choice, and contribute to building a peaceful, united, and prosperous Nigeria.
