Fire Razes Lagos Mechanic Workshop, Damages 21 Vehicles
A fire outbreak at a mechanic workshop in the Isheri-Idimu area of Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos State, has affected 21 vehicles, while part of a nearby building sustained minor damage.
The incident occurred at about 3:05 a.m. on Friday along Oladunni Street, beside Eternal Filling Station, sparking fears that the fire could spread to the adjoining petrol station and trigger a more devastating incident.
However, the timely intervention of emergency responders prevented the flames from spreading to the filling station and other nearby structures.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) disclosed that its Dolphin Response Team, based in Igando, was mobilised immediately after receiving a distress call about the incident.
According to the agency’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the team discovered upon arrival that the fire had engulfed a mechanical workshop where several high-end vehicles were parked close to the petrol station.
He attributed the successful containment of the inferno to the coordinated efforts of LASEMA, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps and the Nigeria Police Force.
Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed that the fire was completely extinguished and that damping-down operations had been completed to prevent a possible resurgence.
He added that preliminary assessments showed that 21 exotic vehicles were affected, while a section of a neighbouring building suffered minor damage.
Fortunately, no fatalities or injuries were recorded during the incident.
The LASEMA chief commended the emergency personnel for their prompt response, noting that their intervention helped prevent the fire from escalating into a major disaster.
He also reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents and business operators to observe appropriate safety measures, particularly in workshops and other locations where flammable materials are handled.
Members of the public were further advised to report emergencies promptly through the state’s toll-free emergency numbers, 767 and 112.
