The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has paid a courtesy visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Kano, amid increasing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The visit, which took place on Thursday, was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by Kwankwaso’s media aide, Saifullahi Hassan.
According to the statement, Obasanjo, who is currently in Kano on an official assignment, received the former Kano State governor at his temporary residence in the state.
Kwankwaso was accompanied by the NDC governorship candidate for Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.

The statement described the meeting as cordial, noting that the political leaders engaged in warm discussions. However, it did not disclose the details of their conversation.

The visit comes at a time of heightened political consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections. Despite speculations surrounding the meeting, there was no indication from either Kwankwaso’s camp or Obasanjo that it was linked to any political alliance or electoral strategy.

Political observers are expected to continue monitoring engagements among key political figures as preparations for the next general elections gather momentum.
