Kwara Council of Ulama Chairman, Chief Imam Solihu, Is Dead

Ilorin has recorded the death of its Chief Imam, Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Solihu OON.

It was gathered that the respected Islamic scholar died on Monday at the age of 75.

The news of his passing spread quickly across Kwara State, as religious leaders and residents expressed deep shock and sorrow.

Born in 1950 in Ilorin, Solihu dedicated his life to Islamic scholarship and service. Over time, he rose to become one of the most influential religious figures in the state.

He assumed office as the 12th Chief Imam of the Ilorin Emirate in 1983 and served in the position for more than four decades.

Throughout his tenure, he promoted peace and unity among Muslims. Moreover, he consistently encouraged religious tolerance within the wider society.

Many followers admired his deep knowledge of Islamic teachings and his leadership shaped religious affairs across the Emirate.

News Hub recalls that the former Emir of Ilorin, Zuluqarnain Muhammadu Gambari, appointed him after the death of Imam Musa Ahmad. Since then, he earned the revered title Imam Fulani among faithful adherents.
