Kwara Rebuilders Asks Saraki To Apologise, Take Responsibility For Offa Robbery On Kwara South Tour

Kwara Rebuilders asks Saraki to apologise, take responsibility for Offa robbery on Kwara South tour

Pro-democracy group, Kwara Rebuilders, has tasked Senator Bukola Saraki to apologise to the people of Kwara South on the infamous Offa robbery orchestrated by a political gang linked to the former senate president, which led to the death of 33 people, including a pregnant woman and nine police officers in Offa Community.

The gang was recently convicted and sentenced to death by hanging.

Bukola Saraki himself is facing a 20-count criminal charge at Kwara State High Court, including conspiracy based on evidence and testimonies of the convicted gang members.

In a statement issued by its Kwara South Media Officer, Bushari Shamsudeen, the group said Saraki should take responsibility for the heinous crimes committed by some of his alleged followers and apologise to the leaders and Kwara South people at every stop in PDP campaign in the region.

“We can see Bukola Saraki and PDP have commenced a political tour in Kwara South. This is insensitive and presposterous without a public apology for the crimes some of the thugs linked to their party committed in Offa leading to the death of 33 people,” the statement said.

“Saraki should be able to take responsibility as a leader if he is compassionate. It is imperative to show remorse given that he is also facing charges for conspiracy in the crime, instead of gallivanting like nothing happened.”

The group said Kwarans have not forgotten the carnage visited on the people, noting that it is enough an inspiration for people to reject PDP in the forthcoming elections.

“While we hope that they have the decency to take a minute silence in Offa, Erin Ile, and other communities, we wish to reiterate that Kwara can never forget the havoc, intimidation, and bloodbath PDP thugs caused in Offa, Kwara South and entire stretch of the state.

“Kwarans should reject all forms of hooliganism and their enablers to sustain inclusive growth and development across the state.”
