The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) on Monday, May 18, 2026, sealed off BON Hotel located on Sule Olusesi Street, Conservation Area, Lekki, Eti-Osa, Lagos, over the indiscriminate discharge of untreated wastewater into the environment and public drainage channels.
According to the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the enforcement action followed the discovery that the hotel allegedly channelled untreated wastewater into public drains through the use of pumping machines, thereby causing environmental nuisance, offensive odour, and posing serious risks to public health and safety.
The Commissioner disclosed this development via his official social media handle, reiterating the commitment of the Lagos State Government to environmental sustainability and strict enforcement of sanitation regulations across the state.
He warned that individuals, organisations, and business premises engaging in acts capable of endangering the environment or public health would be sanctioned in line with existing environmental laws of Lagos State.
The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office also urged residents and corporate organisations to adopt proper wastewater disposal practices and cooperate with government agencies in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
