Makinde Names Akinwole Chief Of Staff As Ogunwuyi Resigns

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has appointed Akinwale Akinwole as his new Chief of Staff following the resignation of his predecessor, Segun Ogunwuyi.

The governor also approved the appointment of Mrs Aderonke Adedayo as Director-General of the state’s Due Process Office.

The appointments were announced on Monday in a statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olarenwaju, in Ibadan.

According to the statement, the appointment letters were signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Musibau Babatunde, with both appointments taking immediate effect.

Akinwole, described as a grassroots politician, previously served as chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission.

Adedayo, who currently serves as Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies, will retain her existing position while taking on the additional responsibility of heading the Due Process Office.

Governor Makinde congratulated the new appointees and charged them to discharge their responsibilities with loyalty, commitment and dedication to the development of Oyo State.

Meanwhile, Ogunwuyi formally resigned as Chief of Staff in a letter dated October 12, 2026, stating that his decision took effect immediately.

In the letter, the former aide expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve, describing his time in the administration as an honour and a fulfilling experience.

He also commended the collective efforts of the administration, expressing pride in what he described as its contributions to the growth, development and prosperity of Oyo State.

Ogunwuyi, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, is among several former aides reportedly to have left the governor’s camp in the past two months.

Despite his resignation, he expressed continued loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria in his letter.

The latest development comes as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections. Makinde is the presidential candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM).
