Ogun Forestry Commissioner Gives Free Cooking Gas to 100 Residents

In a renewed demonstration of his commitment to improving the welfare of the people, the Ogun State Commissioner for Forestry, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun, has distributed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) valued at ₦3,600 each to more than 100 beneficiaries free of charge as part of efforts to ease the economic burden facing residents.
The empowerment initiative, which attracted beneficiaries from different communities, was designed to provide immediate relief to households grappling with the rising cost of living while encouraging the adoption of cleaner and more efficient cooking energy.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Engr. Oludotun said the intervention was borne out of compassion and the need to support vulnerable members of society during challenging economic times. According to him, the gesture reflects the government’s people-centered approach to improving the standard of living of residents through practical and impactful initiatives.
He noted that access to clean cooking energy remains essential to household well-being and environmental sustainability, adding that the free distribution of LNG would not only reduce the financial burden on families but also promote safer and cleaner domestic energy use.
“This initiative is our modest contribution towards reducing the hardship being experienced by many families. We understand the challenges people are facing, and we believe that every little support can make a meaningful difference,” he said.
The commissioner further encouraged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the gas while adhering to all necessary safety precautions in handling and storing LPG/LNG cylinders. He reiterated his commitment to supporting programmes that directly impact the lives of the people and contribute to sustainable development.
Many of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as timely and thoughtful. They noted that the cost of cooking gas has become increasingly difficult for many households to afford, making the free supply a welcome relief.
One of the beneficiaries said the intervention would enable families to redirect scarce financial resources to other pressing needs, while another described the commissioner as a leader who has demonstrated concern for the welfare of ordinary citizens.
Community leaders and stakeholders who witnessed the exercise also commended Engr. Oludotun for the humanitarian initiative, urging other public office holders and well-meaning individuals to emulate such acts of generosity aimed at supporting the less privileged.
The distribution exercise concluded with beneficiaries receiving their allocations in an orderly manner, amid expressions of appreciation and goodwill.
