OmoOwo Leads Massive Mobilisation as Adebutu Flags Off PDP Ogun East Campaign
Chants of support for PDP Ogun East senatorial candidate, Alh. Abdul-Hamid Femi Omotayo, popularly known as OmoOwo, rang through the ancient city of Ijebu Ode as thousands of market women, traders, youths and residents joined the campaign procession towards Odogbolu.
The procession moved through major markets and surrounding communities, with people lining the route, waving PDP flags, singing solidarity songs and cheering OmoOwo and other PDP candidates.
From Ijebu Ode to Odogbolu, the procession brought major parts of the route to a standstill for over six hours. The reception also highlighted OmoOwo’s connection with the Ijebu community, as residents came out along the route to welcome him and the PDP candidates.
Many supporters described the PDP as a way out of what they called years of poor governance and government insensitivity. Others spoke about their expectations for better infrastructure, jobs, local development and more opportunities for young people and traders.
The event featured the Ogun East PDP candidates, including House of Representatives candidates Hon. Abdul-Majeed Segun Adekoya, Hon. Wale Ogunbanjo and Asiwaju Bolarinwa Oluwole, alongside all 11 House of Assembly candidates.
At Odogbolu, PDP governorship candidate, Hon. Dr. Oladipupo Adebutu, formally flagged off the campaign alongside his running mate, Alhaja Lateefat Oyeyemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, and other party leaders.
In his address, “A Call to Liberation,” Adebutu spoke about changing the way government relates with the people. He promised greater local government autonomy, stronger communities, jobs, support for farmers and cooperatives, better infrastructure and more opportunities for women and young people.
