Oshiomhole Labels Amaechi Unreliable, Dismisses His Political Insights
Senator Adams Oshiomhole has taken a firm stance against former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, labeling him as unreliable and unworthy of serious discussion.
Oshiomhole’s remarks came during a TVC interview, where he addressed Amaechi’s recent comments regarding President Bola Tinubu’s challengers in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

If you know Amaechi, you won’t waste airtime talking about him,” Oshiomhole asserted, questioning Amaechi’s political credibility.
Oshiomhole highlighted past discrepancies in Amaechi’s political journey, particularly his turbulent relationship with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.
Oshiomhole recalled that Amaechi had once accused Atiku of winning the African Democratic Congress presidential primary through fraudulent means, even taking legal action to contest the results.
“Amaechi claimed Atiku stole the mandate and sought to challenge it in court,” he stated.
He further noted that Atiku later sought a reconciliation with Amaechi, proposing they share the “stolen mandate.” This, according to Oshiomhole, raises questions about the integrity of both politicians.
In a broader critique, Oshiomhole pointed to Amaechi’s political ascent, arguing that his governorship was the result of a Supreme Court decision rather than electoral success.
He also remarked that Amaechi was appointed minister by former President Muhammadu Buhari without the backing of a public vote.
“His rise to power has been marked by luck rather than merit,” Oshiomhole contended, citing his own experience as a national player and former national chairman.
Moreover, Oshiomhole criticized Amaechi for labeling other political figures as “ethnic champions,” asserting that such comments undermine the complexity of Nigeria’s political landscape.
“Someone who dismisses others should not be taken seriously when discussing leadership in a diverse country,” he added.
As the political climate heats up ahead of the 2027 elections, Oshiomhole’s comments reflect ongoing tensions within Nigeria’s political elite, particularly among those with contested pasts.
In a landscape rife with political maneuvering, Oshiomhole’s dismissal of Amaechi serves as a reminder of the intricate and often contentious nature of Nigerian politics.
