Suspected Political Thugs kill six- months-old Pregnant Woman, Youth Leader To Death in Ogun
Some suspected political thugs believed to be boys of one Hon. Chief Obasanyan, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC in the Itori area of Ogun state have allegedly shot a 6-month old pregnant woman and a popular youth leader in the Itori Jagunna community area to death in Ogun state
The pregnant woman was identified as Mrs Kemi Olusegun, the wife of a two term councilor Under the Platform Of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria which metamorphosed to the now All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Samson Olusegun.
Hon. Samson Olusegun is a prominent member of the All progressive Congress in the Ogun central senatorial district and a prominent politician who is well revered for his grassroots support among the members and leaders of the entire itori community.
Hon. Samson Olusegun became the subject of attack when he announced that he was quitting active politics to focus on his business because he wasn’t satisfied with the attitude and character of his political Godfather, Hon. Chief Obasanya who has come to be known by many in the Itori community as a land grabber with political and government support.
Hon. Samson disclosed that ever since his announcement to quit active politics, he has received several death threats to return to politics or leave the country.
Hon Samson Olusegun, while speaking to our correspondent revealed how he miraculously escaped death on the 17th of January 2025 when he visited his farm. He disclosed that he was shocked to have met two unknown persons beside the farm when he visited but was left even more shellshocked when, upon inquiring for their mission on the farmland, the unknown boys released sporadic gunshots in the air an later towards him.
The honourable was full of praise to his creator that he could escape the assassination attempt but was left desolate and downcaste when he received the news of the death of his pregnant wife who was shot dead by some assailants suspected to be the boys of Hon. Cheif Obasanyan the following day.
It was allegedly gathered that Hon. Chief Obasanyan’s boys also killed one Ade Adegoroye, a prominent youth leader in itori community .
His words;
“On the day after I escaped the assassination, on the 18th of January 2025 around about 01:00 hrs midnight, I heard a big bang on my front door while I was inside the house, sounds of gunshots followed and I had to escape through the back exit leaving my family behind inside the house thinking they will be spared. But I received the shock of my life when later the following morning, I received the news from my neighbors that my second wife who was 6 months old pregnant had been shot and that efforts made by my the team of rescueers to save her life proved abortive as she died in the process of rushing her to the nearest hospital. It was later confirmed by my neighbors that the alleged perpetrators, my assailants, were boys working for Hon. Chief Obasanyan, a prominent land grabber and politician.”
Hon. Samson Olusegun added that he, along with the leaders of his community had reported the two cases to the itori divisional police station in itori while also demanding swift and in- depth investigation of the matter.
He also revealed that It was the third day of the bad incident, that he was informed that the youth leader’s decomposing body was found beside a bush not far from his farm at Afowowa, Itori, Jagunna community in a manner bearing the traces and signs of Hon. Chief Obasanyan’s boys.
Some reliable sources within the community also confirmed to our correspondent that Hon. Chief Obasanyan and his boys have been terrorising the community, taking over people’s properties illegally and unjustly while also threatening to kill them should they raise any eyebrows.
The police, when contacted by our correspondent, confirmed receipt of the cases and also promised to conduct a thorough and accelerated investigation into the matter and bring the culprits to book in no distant future.
