VeryDarkMan Honoured by NBA at Port Harcourt Conference
The Nigerian Bar Association has honoured social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, with a special recognition award at its ongoing 2026 Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Otse received the award on Tuesday after participating as a panellist at the conference, where he spoke about insecurity, attacks on Nigerians and other issues affecting the country.
Presenting the award on behalf of the NBA President and members of the association, the moderator commended Otse for attending the conference and sharing his personal experiences with lawyers and other participants.
While presenting the recognition, the moderator also urged the influencer to avoid taking the law into his own hands whenever he faced attacks, advising him to report such incidents to the police.
The presentation was followed by a group photograph involving Otse and some officials of the association.
Earlier, Otse had explained that his invitation to the NBA conference was not to teach lawyers about legal matters but to share his experiences and perspectives on insecurity and other national issues.
Speaking during the session, he expressed concern over the worsening insecurity in the country and criticised what he described as inadequate media coverage of killings and attacks.
Otse also recounted his experiences at the scene of violent attacks, including the June 2025 attack in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, where more than 200 people were reportedly killed and properties destroyed.
He said his involvement in responding to such incidents had exposed him to the devastating impact of violence on communities.
The influencer’s appearance at the NBA conference has generated considerable public attention, particularly because of his outspoken advocacy on insecurity and his growing influence on social media.
