WOW Humanitarian Foundation Advocates Inclusion Through Children’s Day Fiesta
Children from diverse backgrounds, including children living with disabilities and less privileged communities, gathered in Lagos on Wednesday for the 7th edition of the WOW Children’s Day Fiesta, an annual event designed to promote inclusion, unity and equal opportunities for all children.
The event, held in Lagos, was organised by Make It Wow Surprises through its humanitarian platform, Make It Wow Humanitarian Foundation, as part of activities marking Children’s Day 2026.
Speaking during the event, founder of Make It Wow Surprises, Tosin Owolabi, popularly known as “Mr. Wow,” said the initiative was created to build an environment where every child, irrespective of background, social status or disability, feels accepted and celebrated.
According to him, the theme for this year’s edition, “Gospel of Inclusion,” reflects the organisation’s commitment to ensuring equal treatment and shared experiences among children.
“We want to create an atmosphere where every child is treated the same way irrespective of ability, disability or background. Today, you can see children from different walks of life all having fun together without segregation,” he said.
Owolabi explained that the fiesta also coincided with the 10th anniversary of Make It Wow Surprises, which he described as one of Nigeria’s pioneering surprise brands with operations extending to countries including the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Germany and Dubai.
He noted that despite financial challenges and years of personal sacrifice, the organisation has remained committed to sustaining the initiative because of its social impact.
“This is not a profit making platform. What makes this year special is resilience and perseverance. We have continued to push because of the passion to see children happy and included,” he added.
Events and Activation Consultant
Wow Children’s Day Fiesta 7th Edition said the fiesta was intentionally designed to provide memorable experiences for children and their families while spreading love and promoting social acceptance.
“This year is our 7th edition and the theme is the Gospel of Inclusion. We are welcoming children from all backgrounds to come together and have fun. Every child deserves happiness and beautiful memories,” he said.
He described the turnout as impressive, noting that parents, vendors, children and media organisations all contributed to the success of the programme.
According to him, organisers also introduced a special after party for adults tagged “I’be person pikin,” aimed at celebrating parents and reminding them to reconnect with the joy of childhood.
Representatives of disability advocacy groups also commended the initiative for encouraging social integration and confidence among children living with special needs.
Dan Udoh of the Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria said the event provided an opportunity for young adults with Down syndrome to interact freely with others in a safe and welcoming environment.
“When there is an event like this, they are always happy to socialise. It helps to promote inclusion in society. They feel confident, bold and excited to mix with other people and have fun,” he said.
Parents at the event expressed appreciation to the organisers for creating a platform where children could interact freely regardless of differences, describing the fiesta as both entertaining and impactful.
The WOW Children’s Day Fiesta has continued to grow over the years as one of the notable inclusion focused Children’s Day celebrations in Lagos, attracting children, parents, advocacy groups and community organisations from different parts of the state.
