A retiring teacher from Lagos State, Mrs. Francisca Olaitan Lawal, has struck gold at the 26th National Women’s Conference of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), winning a three-bedroom apartment.
Also, Mary Odofin, a dedicated staff member of Lagos State Ferry Services (LAGFERRY), drove home a brand-new sports utility vehicle (SUV).

The exciting raffle draw took place during the gala night of the three-day conference, held from October 26 to 28, 2026, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Participants were also treated to various other prizes, including shopping vouchers and return tickets to Ghana and London.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, addressed attendees during the closing ceremony, emphasizing the need for COWLSO to solidify its legacy of community service.
He urged the organization to ensure that the recommendations from its annual conferences lead to tangible improvements in the lives of Lagos residents.
“You must preserve the legacy of service while translating your resolutions into actionable programs that uplift our communities,” the Governor stated.
Sanwo-Olu commended COWLSO for its impactful work in education and healthcare, as well as its support for vulnerable groups like widows and the elderly.
He highlighted that the resources generated by COWLSO have funded medical outreach and school projects, demonstrating the power of collective action.
The Governor also called for proper documentation of conference recommendations to guide future administrations and stakeholders. He stressed that the value of the conference should be mirrored in real-world outcomes, encouraging COWLSO to continue its vital interventions.
First Lady Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu echoed her husband’s sentiments, emphasizing that the true impact of the conference would be measured by the positive changes participants enact in their communities. She called on women to elevate themselves from mere inspiration to active agents of change.
Dr. Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to the Governor for acknowledging COWLSO’s contributions during the gala, stating that such recognition fuels the organization’s commitment to improving the lives of women and families.
As the conference concluded, she urged participants to foster a spirit of sisterhood and support each other’s achievements, reinforcing the idea that personal successes should pave the way for future generations.
Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, wife of the Deputy Governor, added that being a role model requires integrity and genuine commitment to the welfare of others.
She encouraged women to unite for the betterment of Lagos State, underscoring the importance of collective effort in nurturing the next generation.
Quoting Maya Angelou, Mrs. Hamzat reminded attendees that Nothing can dim the light that shines from within, urging women to let their purpose illuminate the path for younger generations.
