APC Slams Adeleke, Says Tinubu And Oyetola Not Responsible For His Political Woes
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to stop blaming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for what it described as his self-inflicted political challenges ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the party’s spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, the APC faulted comments allegedly made by Adeleke during a campaign rally in Osogbo on Monday, where he accused Tinubu and Oyetola of being responsible for his political setbacks.
The party also said Adeleke accused the police of bias against his administration despite describing himself as the state’s Chief Security Officer.
Reacting to the allegations, the APC dismissed the governor’s claims as baseless and politically motivated, insisting that neither Tinubu nor Oyetola should be held responsible for his electoral prospects.
According to the party, Adeleke has continued to fuel political tension in the state and should focus on addressing governance issues rather than making what it called unfounded accusations against political opponents.
The APC further alleged that the governor had provided appointments and protection to individuals it described as political thugs, claiming such actions had contributed to insecurity in the state.
Olabisi said Adeleke’s allegations were merely an attempt to justify what the APC believes will be his defeat in the forthcoming governorship election.
He also questioned the governor’s decision to grant amnesty to some convicted political offenders shortly before the election, describing the move as questionable.
The APC maintained that Adeleke’s endorsement of President Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election was his personal political decision and should not be used to claim political persecution.
The party challenged the governor to allow the electorate decide his fate at the polls, insisting that the August 15 governorship election would serve as the true test of his administration’s performance.
It also questioned Adeleke’s handling of security in the state, arguing that as the constitutional Chief Security Officer, he should take responsibility for the recurring security challenges in Osun.
