I Had No Doubt Ademola Would Win — Deji Adeleke

Dr Deji Adeleke, elder brother of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has said he was confident his brother would emerge victorious in the 2026 Osun State governorship election despite what he described as strong backing for the opposition from the Presidency.
Deji made the remarks during a victory celebration for Governor Adeleke on Sunday night, in a video shared on social media.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Ademola Adeleke the winner of the governorship election, securing another term in office.
Speaking at the celebration, Deji said he had never doubted his brother’s chances because of his personal prayers and faith in God.
“I don’t discuss with anybody. I do it in the corner of my room. I do this every day. So, I was not worried. I had no doubt in my mind that Ademola will win. Ademola will overcome,” he said.
He explained that his confidence was strengthened by his daily prayers and periods of fasting, which he said he carried out privately.
“I fortify myself with the power of the Almighty God every day. And the day that I fast, I’ll do it three times a day. And nobody knew. I don’t discuss with anybody,” Deji added.
Commenting on the opposition, he said no amount of political influence, money or institutional backing could prevent what he believed was God’s will.
“Let them come with all the battalions, withdraw the Army, bring all the money from the Central Bank. Nobody is above God Almighty,” he said.
Deji further alleged that the opposition relied on its perceived connection to the Presidency, while insisting that his brother’s victory was achieved through divine intervention.
“He comes with his wickedness. He comes with the power that he thinks he has because he’s connected to the Presidency. But Ademola comes against them in the power of the Almighty God,” he said.
The elder Adeleke also disclosed that he had consistently prayed for the governor’s protection and victory, saying he believed God would preserve him throughout the election.
He concluded by reaffirming his confidence in the governor, repeatedly declaring that “Ademola will defeat them.”
The remarks came as supporters of Governor Adeleke continued celebrations following his victory in the Osun governorship election.
