Ogogo’s Daughters Seek Urgent Cancer Treatment for Father

Daughters of veteran Yoruba actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have appealed for urgent medical assistance for their father, who they disclosed is battling stage-four cancer.

The actor’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, made separate emotional appeals on Instagram on Monday, calling on Nigerians, medical professionals and healthcare facilities with expertise in cancer treatment to help save their father’s life.

In a video shared on Instagram, Lima said the actor’s condition had significantly worsened and appealed to hospitals and medical practitioners willing to take up his case.

According to her, the family only became aware of the seriousness of his condition about three weeks ago, despite the fact that his physical appearance did not initially suggest the severity of the illness.

She said, “My daddy has cancer and it’s really, really bad. And the hospitals are refusing to treat him. At least, please, give this man a chance.”

Lima stressed that the family was not appealing for financial donations but specifically seeking medical intervention for the 66-year-old actor.

She urged anyone with connections to hospitals, oncologists or other medical professionals who could provide treatment to contact the family.

Kira, in a separate video, confirmed that her father was battling stage-four cancer and said the hospital had told the family that it could no longer continue his chemotherapy.

She also appealed to medical professionals and facilities capable of treating cancer to intervene, saying the family was willing to explore available medical options.

Kira disclosed that Senator Yayi had been supporting the family by paying some of the actor’s medical bills.

She said, “What I’m here for is that if you can treat my daddy, if you can start chemo for him, whether it’s medical or herbs, please, I’m begging you.”

The emotional appeal continued as Kira revealed that her father had expressed fears about dying, adding that she had never seen him in such severe pain.

“He’s saying that he doesn’t want to die. Please, I’ve never seen my daddy in that kind of pain before,” she said.

Ogogo, 66, is one of the veteran figures in the Nigerian film industry, particularly Yoruba-language cinema. With a career spanning more than four decades, he has featured in over 300 movies and remains one of the most recognisable actors in the industry.

As of the time of filing this report, Ogogo’s management and family had not released an official statement providing further details about his diagnosis, the specific cancer involved or the hospital currently handling his treatment.
