Man Remanded in Custody Over Alleged Threat to Release Kano Governor’s Nude Photos
The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of Sanusi Dankaka at Kuje Correctional Centre following allegations that he threatened to publicly release nude images of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Facebook.
Justice Salim Ibrahim issued the remand order after the Department of State Services (DSS) arraigned Dankaka on two counts of cybercrime. The defendant pleaded not guilty to both charges.

According to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria, the DSS filed the case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/699/2026, on October 22, accusing Dankaka of committing these offences in October 2026.
In the first count, the prosecution claims Dankaka, along with unidentified accomplices, used his Facebook account to threaten the governor with the release of alleged nude videos and photographs.
The DSS asserted that the threats were baseless and intended to cause distress, inconvenience, and harm to the governor’s reputation.
The prosecution cited violations of Section 27(1)(6) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, which are punishable under Section 24(1) of the same law.
During Monday’s proceedings, DSS lawyer Yusuf Afegbua requested a trial date and sought a remand order for Dankaka at Kuje Correctional Centre.
The defense counsel, Kauna Penzin, did not oppose the remand request.
Justice Ibrahim subsequently adjourned the case until December 7 for trial, instructing that Dankaka remain in custody.
The unfolding case highlights the increasing scrutiny of cybercrime and the legal measures being taken to combat online threats against public figures.
As the situation develops, the court’s next steps will be closely monitored, especially given the high-profile nature of the accused and the allegations.
The case serves as a reminder of the potential consequences associated with online threats and the legal frameworks in place to address such issues.
